Song Feedback and Ideas Visualisation

Image
My chosen song was played to some of my peers who gave me a wide variety of initial ideas to use for my music video, as well as giving their first impressions, which is something I have found very beneficial when thinking about ideas to incorporate into my video. The most common theme presented by my peers was the use of water and using a beach setting due to the song's title being 'Oceans Away', which would mainly focus on a performance and narrative based video about an emotional relationship. My song was also seen as 'chill' and 'relaxed' with other location ideas mentioned, such as a forest or a a busy town at night which fits into typical locations of the alternative genre, and are things I will consider when drawing up initial ideas for my video. This feedback has been especially helpful for me as it's given me a deeper insight into a wider range of ideas to use in my video and to be more creative.

Song Permission

Song Permission After picking Oceans Away by A R I Z O N A as my song for my music video, I then emailed Atlantic records to ask for permission to use their song. However, after a couple of months I got no response, so I sent a follow up email which also received no reply. Because of this, I went onto the YouTube music regulations, which stated that the song can be used in videos, but may potentially be copyrighted in the future.

Oceans Away - A R I Z O N A

OCEANS AWAY - A R I Z O N A   I have chosen to use the song 'Oceans Away' by A R I Z O N A. The band consists of three males: Zach Hannah (the main vocalist), Nathan Esquite (the guitarist) and Dan Labuguen (the keyboard player) who are originally from New Jersey, USA, and are still relatively unknown. This song was first released as a single but further released in the band's debut album, 'GALLERY', released in early 2016. Even though A R I Z O N A have released a music video for this song, I plan to use my own ideas to construct a different interpretation of the song to try and attract the target audience. I have chosen this song as it's very chilled out and can allow for a range of different ideas with the lyrics having multiple meanings. The relaxing beat will allow me to experiment with different editing styles to make the video more intriguing to the audience. In addition, the way in which the song slowly builds through the lyrics and the beat...

Mouse Rat CD Cover and Poster

Image
Mouse Rat Digipak When making the CD cover for Mouse Rat, a rock band, I tried to get inspiration from other artists in the rock genre to pick out similar elements to use in my rendition of their CD and Album cover. Primarily, I found that artists such as Nirvana, AC/DC and Catfish and the Bottlemen used black and white on their album covers, using bold white text that would stand out from the dark background.  incorporated this idea into both my CD cover and poster, as I decided to use bold white fonts on the front which are shown to stand out from the background which is darker, and shows two people behind looking in the direction of the camera. The very large font on the front is used to immediately show the audience who the artist is, creating a brand so they can become more easily recognisable.
