Location Recce and Photos

 Location Recce

The first location I would like to use is Bournemouth Beach, where most of the first  shots of the music video will be located, along with other scenes later on. Bournemouth is an ideal location for these shots as it's relatively close, so it would be easy to get there and film everything needed in a short time period. I will make sure to go and film these shots when there are less people around, as Bournemouth tends to be quote busy most days. A risk that could potentially affect filming is that dust can get into the equipment and affect its performance, so to minimise these risks, I will make sure the equipment is covered up and doesn't go anywhere near the sand to ensure maximum performance.

The New Forest is my next location, specifically down near Linford Bottom or Poulner Lakes. This location would be perfect to shoot many of the performance elements of my video, where the main female character will be lip syncing. Like Bournemouth, the forest is only a short distance away from home so it will be easy to get to. In these places, there are many long and straight paths that will be perfect for my actor to walk down while lip syncing. At Poulner lakes, there is a bridge that could be perfect for more of the forest scenes with both my actors, as well as lip syncing. One thing that could have been an risk when filming at this location was the weather and how muddy or slippery the surfaces would be, so I made sure to film on a dry day where the surfaces would be dry and safer.

When shooting the scenes of my actor driving back to her house, I thought that the use of a nice sunset, such as this would be perfect as it would subtly reflect how the day, and the actors' relationship are coming to an end. Before choosing this location, I considered the fact that it may be potentially quite dangerous for my actor to be lip syncing while driving as it may distract her from the road, but I thought that driving slower at a quieter time would minimise the risk of any damage or danger to my actors or myself when filming.

For the scenes inside a house, this would be perfect as pictures of both actors can be displayed in all of them, highlighting how long they were in a relationship together. The neutral colours of the walls and furniture can create a more chilled out and relaxed atmosphere, one of the main things I want to achieve when creating this video. One risk that I considered when shooting at this location was Sarah's animals and the risk of damaging the equipment, so when filming, I kept the other equipment out of reach of the animals to the equipment would not get damaged.

This location is perfect for the shots where the main female character is walking to her car near the middle of my music video; the car park is right by the beach which is convenient for filming purposes, and is an accessible place. This car park isn't far from Bournemouth Beach, so it will be easy to film at several locations in one day and reduce my filming time scale, leaving more time for editing. A risk at this location could be cars coming and trying to park and potentially harming my actors, so to minimise this, I have decided that we will go and park in the car park earlier in the morning when it isn't as busy so there won't be as many cars around.

Lastly, Bournemouth Pier is the location I will use between shots 7-15; it's an ideal location a it looks out onto the beach and provides great cinematic shots down the boardwalk. Because of this, it's great for the shot in which the male is walking away from the female into the distance. Like the car park and the beach, I will be able to film these shots at the same time. However, I will have to pick the right time to shoot here as Bournemouth Pier is typically busy on most days. In the winter, the surfaces of the pier may be more slippery and my actors could potentially hurt themselves, so to ensure this risk doesn't occur, I will go and film with my actors on a day where it's dry and when the sea is calm, so the danger level will be much lower.
