Target Audience Research - Questionnaire

TARGET AUDIENCE RESEARCH - QUESTIONNAIRE

When asking for members of my target audience to fill in my questionnaire, I asked an even number of both genders to try and get non gender-biased opinions, and see if my genre would appeal to everyone - from the chart it appears that the split is almost equal.

At first, I wanted to find out the reasons why my target audience would listen to music, to see what elements I could incorporate into my own music video. From the results of my questionnaire, it appears that the most common reasons why my target audience would listen to music is to relax, to make them happy and to escape; these are elements that I will consider when drafting initial for my music video to try and appeal to as wide an audience as possible. 

Next, I wanted to ask my audience about their feelings when listening to music, and what it makes them think of mostly. From my results, I have found that the main things people think of when listening to music are memories and being happy. In my initial ideas, I will consider using memories as a central theme in my music video, trying to make it more relatable to the audience.

From my next question, I wanted to find out why people were a fan of alternative music, and what they like about it. From the responses in my questionnaire, I created a Wordle and it seems that the main reasons are that alternative music is different and catchy, which are relevant to my song as Oceans Away by A R I Z O N A has a very catchy chorus, and can be seen as different from genres such as mainstream pop. 

From knowing the reasons why my target audience like Alternative music and what their main reasons are for listening to music in general, I asked what type of music video they would typically see in an Alternative music video. From the responses, I found out that the audience would typically see all three elements: Performance, Narrative and Conceptual in a music video, which I will consider when planning my ideas. With performance being the main type of music video the target audience associate with this music genre, I will aim to include elements of the artist/actor singing.

For my final question, I asked my target audience what the main aspects of an Alternative music video were to them, and from the responses, I made another wordcloud to present them. From the responses, I found that the main aspects of Alternative music videos are the story, and that it has to be unique, which are components that I will use in my music video to try and stand out from other music videos in the genre.
