Costumes, Actors and Props

Actors: Female Actor I have chosen to use Sarah to play the female lead in my music video. She is the protagonist, showing throughout the video how she can't get over her relationship with her ex-boyfriend. As my video contains more than one type of music video - Performance and Narrative, I needed an actor who would be able to play the role to a high standard while also making the character believable to the audience. I believe that Sarah would be able to fit this role perfectly as she already has a lot of experience with acting - she is currently taking A level theatre studies and attends a theatre group outside of school. I chose to have a female lead for my music video because I feel that the audience will be able to relate to her more than if it was a male who was the lead character.  Sarah is 17 years old and its into the age group of my target audience perfectly, who are ages between 15-24 years old, allowing them to be able to relate to her more. As she lives q...

Location Recce and Photos

Image
Location Recce The first location I would like to use is Bournemouth Beach, where most of the first  shots of the music video will be located, along with other scenes later on. Bournemouth is an ideal location for these shots as it's relatively close, so it would be easy to get there and film everything needed in a short time period. I will make sure to go and film these shots when there are less people around, as Bournemouth tends to be quote busy most days. A risk that could potentially affect filming is that dust can get into the equipment and affect its performance, so to minimise these risks, I will make sure the equipment is covered up and doesn't go anywhere near the sand to ensure maximum performance. The New Forest is my next location, specifically down near Linford Bottom or Poulner Lakes. This location would be perfect to shoot many of the performance elements of my video, where the main female character will be lip syncing. Like Bournemouth, the f...

Digipak Analysis - Imagine Dragons Albums and Posters

Image
Imagine Dragons - Digipak Analysis From using Imagine Dragons as a case study for my digipak analysis, I found that the three full length albums they have released: Night Visions, Smoke and Mirrors and Evolve, have many similarities in them, for example, the stark contrast between the fonts on the front and back covers of the Album and the dark, eye-catching album art. The posters also use the album art, which keeps the marketing and branding for the albums specific and effective so the audience can easily recognise the band. From analysing these CD covers and posters, I will try to incorporate some of these ideas in my work so my poster and CD cover will fit in the alternative genre well and be recognisable from the target audience.

Target Audience

Image
Target Audience From researching on the internet about my target audience for my music genre - Alternative/indie - I found that mainly females between the ages of 15-24 are the main target audience through looking at popular indie artists, such as Imagine Dragons and Twenty One Pilots. Generally, both the males and females can be seen to have quite large social media followings on apps such as Twitter and Instagram. Their stereotypical profession would be working as a barista at a coffee shop such as Starbucks or Caffe Nero.

Target Audience Research - Questionnaire

Image
TARGET AUDIENCE RESEARCH - QUESTIONNAIRE When asking for members of my target audience to fill in my questionnaire, I asked an even number of both genders to try and get non gender-biased opinions, and see if my genre would appeal to everyone - from the chart it appears that the split is almost equal. At first, I wanted to find out the reasons why my target audience would listen to music, to see what elements I could incorporate into my own music video. From the results of my questionnaire, it appears that the most common reasons why my target audience would listen to music is to relax, to make them happy and to escape; these are elements that I will consider when drafting initial for my music video to try and appeal to as wide an audience as possible.   Next, I wanted to ask my audience about their feelings when listening to music, and what it makes them think of mostly. From my results, I have found that the main things people think of when listening...

Twenty One Pilots - Guns For Hands (Music Video Analysis)

Image
TWENTY ONE PILOTS - GUNS FOR HANDS Guns for Hands by Twenty One Pilots is shown to present elements of all three types of music videos: Performance, Narrative and Conceptual. Both members of the band: Tyler Joseph (the main vocalist) and Josh Dun (the drummer), are shown to be playing instruments, the keyboard of the drums, or lip syncing through the entirety of the video once the song starts at 1:03. Conceptual elements are also featured through this video by both band members applying different coloured tape over both of their heads when the bridge starts at 3:48, with the theme of wanting to hide away being a central theme throughout the song; this also links to a narrative in which the first minute of the music video features Tyler giving Josh a mask and saying "They won't know it's you." , linking to them want to disguise themselves so they aren't or can't be seen by others. Many aspects of Andrew Goodwin's 6 key features of a music video and 5 ...
